Model Driven Engineering (MDE) is a software development method based on using models for the specification, design, analysis, synthesis,  deployment, testing and maintenance of complex software systems to  produce high quality systems at lower cost. Considering ever increasing complexity and cost of development of software, MDE has received considerable attention from the industry and researchers in academia. In particular, one of the best known MDE initiatives is Model Driven Architecture (MDA) is proposed by the Object Management Group (OMG) which is strongly supported by the software industry.

ECMFA is the key European conference aiming at advancement of techniques and furthering underlying knowledge related to Model Driven Engineering. In the past seven years, ECMFA has provided an ideal venue for the interaction among researchers interested in MDE both from the academia and industry.

ECMFA 2011 will be held in the University of Birmingham. Birmingham is Britain's second largest city and is situated right in the heart of England. Birmingham's location in the centre of England makes it an ideal base to explore the rest of the UK. We are only 90 minutes away from London by train and Stratford upon Avon, Warwick, Oxford, the Cotswolds and Wales are only a short journey away. It is a city of culture, combined with superb shopping, great nightlife and award-winning restaurants.

Birmingham is home to the famous City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Birmingham Royal Ballet. Some of the finest art collections in the world are to be found in Birmingham at the City Museum and Art Gallery, the Barber Institute of Fine Arts (University Campus) and the IKON Gallery (Brindley Place). There are many museums including Cadbury World which celebrates Birmingham’s chocolate industry. With more canals than Venice, why not explore and dine in Brindley Place on Broad Street. Birmingham boasts excellent shopping facilities in the completely re-vamped Bullring shopping centre and exclusive designer goods can be bought at the amazingly designed Selfridges store and Mailbox.

The meetings will be held in the Wolfson Centre, The Medical School, University of Birmingham, Edgbaston campus.  Oral sessions will be held in the Leonard Deacon Lecture Theatre and the Centre for Professional Development, exhibitors will be in the Exhibition Hall within the Wolfson Centre.  For the direction see Travel & Maps.
